Finally i managed to proceed on my new mod. Using the free edition for quite a long time now i was still using my old breadbox. But since the Keymap has changed a little i always wanted to redo the whole thing.
This is the old box:
I installed the 4 pots recently but stupidly i was about putting them into the grill and didn't think about it would bend the grill:
Also the wiring of the pots is a little clumsy yet:

Since sometimes i tend to loose my mind during live performance i just need the keymap to be written down on the caps. On my old mod i was writing down the Monosynth keys on top of the caps and whatever i needed to know about Bassline and Drummer on the front side of the caps. Therefore i was rubbing the custom grafx characters from the caps using sandpaper:
Performing live can be a dirty business so my old breadbox was pretty filthy after being on the road. So i was digging out a broken C16 to use its dark lid instead. That's it after drilling holes for the pots and Audio out&ins:
Et voila, this it what it looks like now:
However, the C16 doesn't have the same port layout than a C64 so i had either to drill the holes into the bottom side of its case or find a C64 bottom that fits to the C16 lid. I didn't know there were different breadbox layouts on the C64 but there was just one case in my inventory that was different - and fitted to the C16 lid. Looks funny too, like those vintage cars in beige with dark vinyl-ceiling
So here we are, my new mod in my interior:

Still to do:
* Installing Sid2Sid (still couldn't find that wiring socket for a decent price..)
* Writing down the keymap (still thinking about how to group the synth-sections on the caps)
* Adding internal DIN-sync jacks (not shure if i'll do or rather wait for firestARTer's interface)

BEAUTIFUL!
What is displayed on the atronaut-helmet shaped telly??

A program that reads the MIDI-bus and replays the notes with the SID-chip.
uhmmmmmmmm
Needs a datel midi interface...
What can you do with it? I mean, sonically...just bleeps and chirps?
Offline
Yeah, needs a MIDI interface (still got on from "supertrack" midi sequencer back in the days)..
You'd get much more out of it than just bleeping and chirping, it's like the P64 instrument editor in HEX, including wavetables etc. Just whatever the SID can do. But without realtime sound editing, C64 is busy enough with MIDI already.
In my setup it's a nice expansion, e.g. while playing around with the Monosynth and i'd like to drop in some wavetables or whatever.

LEt us hear something...
Sounds like what my label bosses keep saying...
I'm sorry but i'm stuck with some other project right now.
In the meantime you may just listen to the first track (labelled "bloddy demo version") at myspace. It's no C64 showcase but pretty much from it (besides: MC202, XBase09, bent TR626..)
IŽll post some audio recording as soon as i'm finished with that other stuff..

Damn look like most of us are in myspace too...

Finally i managed installing the SID2SID without the required wiring socket. I just didn't want that bloody socket to be more expensive than the remaining parts of the SID2SID (besides the SIDs, of course). So i made a sandwich of regular sockets instead:
First i soldered a regular precision socket into the SID#1 slot. Then i was filling the holes of another precision socket with solder and stacked it onto the solderpoints of the PCB socket. Finally i was heating every single pin with the soldering iron untill the solder inside the piggyback socket and the soldering points of the PCB were melting. While gently pressing down the heated pins they were slipping down into the melted solder and connecting to the overlapping pinspots of the SID#1 socket. Hope you'll get what i mean, difficult for me to explain in english ![]()

I know it looks little scary but there was no short circuit between any neighbouring pins so i decided to go on - it's working well and didn't harm my beloved 8580s...
Although it seems to be quite high-piled there's still enough room to mount the keyboard and close the beast ![]()

Now i'm ready to use my 6-voice C64 and the todo-list just got two issues left ![]()

Clever thing. By the way, my wiring socket costet 4.5, definitely more than the rest, but stille quite affordable.
Found in the shop near hear, I didn't search for it...
Am I lucky?
